The Wertheim Vacuum Cleaner is manufactured by the Australian company Wertheim, which produces high-end floor care products. Wertheim produced the first series of Wertheim Vacuum Cleaner models for the Australian market in 1988, which met with immediate success among the Australian buying public. That led the company to release subsequent models, all of which were smaller and lighter than the first Wertheim Vacuum. In the early part of the 1990s, Wertheim released the 1300i Wertheim Vacuum Cleaner, which contained most of the features of their earlier models, but also included a suction control conveniently placed on the handle of the vacuum. The first offerings from Wertheim were originally manufactured by the Italian company, Singer, with later models made in union with Electrolux. Though the Wertheim Vacuum line was originally designed to meet a broad spectrum of price and usage needs, the company has recently moved toward a focus on the higher end specialized machines that are geared toward deep cleaning.
The main emphasis of Wertheim Vacuum technology is on the aspect of the Wertheim system that enables their machines to clean carpets by bringing the dirt up from the bottom of the carpet - the powerhead. Wertheim powerhead technology uses vibrations to draw dirt and debris from the lowest portion of the carpeting, thus negating the need for vacuum contact with the source of the carpet fibers. This method of cleaning is better for the carpeting, as it reduces the chances of harmful contact and preserves the carpet's surface, color, and durability. This agitating powerhead has received a lot of praise from reviewers and carpet experts alike.
Every Wertheim Vacuum is an engineering marvel, though the features vary from model to model. In general though, you can count on sufficient power and suction to meet most cleaning needs, as well as tools for cleaning hard surface floors. There are onboard accessories, and some models are designed with HEPA air filter traps that remove nearly all impurities in the air. The Wertheim Vacuum line is easy to use, easy to store, and easy to repair, as Wertheim stands behind their products. To that end, many models have a warranty that lasts as long as 24 months from the day of purchase.
On the down side, some users have complained about various aspects of the machine. There have been some problems with the metal telescopic rod, as well as with the powerhead. In general, most of these complaints have occurred after the customer's warranty has expired, which has led to costly repairs, as these machines and their parts are from cheap. The powerhead complaints are the most troublesome, as that is the one element of the Wertheim Vacuum Cleaner that the company focuses most of its attention on. Complaints about the warranty length are harder to take seriously, as the 2 year warranty is very competitive within the vacuum cleaner industry. Despite those complaints, the Wertheim Vacuum receives positive reviews for its superior suction power, its onboard tool storage, and the ease with which it can be used, and the bin emptied.
