The Roomba Vacuum Cleaner is one of the more unique vacuum cleaner products on the market today. Designed and manufactured by iRobot, the Roomba Vacuum uses some of the same technology used by the military in minesweeping operations. In fact, iRobot designs one of their tactical robots for the United States military, which has purchased hundreds of them for overseas use. iRobot was founded in 1990 by MIT roboticists, with a mission to create and bring to market robot technology that is useful in people's everyday lives. In addition to the Roomba, iRobot also designs robots for commercial and military applications, including units that can search buildings. The company's advancements in robotic applications to daily life have earned it numerous awards.
The Roomba Vacuum Cleaner is, as noted, a different breed of cleaner, and thus difficult to compare to anything else available. It is a disc-shaped unit that is capable of continuous cleaning in any room - on its own! This fact alone has resulted in numerous positive reviews for the Roomba Vacuum, as the new technology utilized by the Roomba moves us one step closer to that long-dreamed of day when robots can handle menial, time-consuming chores for us. The Roomba Vacuum Cleaner is powerful enough for daily usage, with most consumers giving their Roomba Vacuum high marks when used for vacuuming maintenance. The Roomba is also a popular vacuum for its ease of use and lack of a learning curve. From almost the moment you receive your Roomba, you will be ready to turn it loose and let it clean for you.
The Roomba Vacuum Cleaner's sensory technology allows it to navigate around your room uncannily, and it will even stay away from your walls, and your stairs. The Roomba can even be programmed with room parameters that make certain areas "out of bounds" (Now if only they could help us do that with our kids and pets!) which makes the Roomba Vacuum one of the most intelligent products available. There have been some common complaints, however. For one, the Roomba Vacuum Cleaner is a fairly small unit, which means that it fills up with dirt and dust quite frequently. This means that you will have to stop its cleaning activities numerous times to empty the dirt receptacle, which can be an annoying distraction if you are trying to clean do something else while your Roomba vacuum is working.
In addition, it is not the most powerful machine in the world, again due to its size - although most users acknowledge that the Roomba Vacuum Cleaner has more than enough power if you allow it to regularly maintain your floors so that they do not become too challenging. The last major complaint has to do with the battery charge. Obviously, a robot vacuum cleaner is a cordless vacuum cleaner - and the Roomba is both. Some users don't like the 30-minute to an hour charge that the Roomba maintains, though most Roomba Vacuum Cleaner owners say that it provides more than enough charge for their needs. In fact, most users and reviewers have been impressed with the Roomba Vacuum Cleaner's ease of use and time-saving capabilities.
