Carl Miele and Reinhard Zinkann started Miele in 1899 in Germany. They started the company with the motto forever is better - aka high quality that will last a long time. Today, it is still owned by the family and still has the same goal which is why today it is one of the best manufacturers of vacuum cleaners and all products are design for 20 years of use.
In todays world they have also expanded their goals to include minimal impact on the environment with
  • Their production processes produce no hazardous materials.
  • Their products lead the market for energy efficiency.
  • Long timetime use means that materials are needed less oftern (you don't buy a new one and throw out the old one every few years).
  • Their product are made of mainly materials that are easily recyclable.
All this ties together into WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) - made more responsibly and retailer off a take back service (read more here).
