The Dirt Devil Vacuum Cleaner is manufactured by TTI Floor Care, North America. TTI was once better known as the Royal Vacuum Company, which had its origins in the early 1900s when it was called the P.A. Geier Company. Geier changed hands several times, beginning in 1953, then again in 1954 and 1981. From their first hand-held vacuum cleaner in 1937 to the modern Dirt Devil Vacuum that is recognized all across America, each incarnation of this century-old company has done its part to help Americans keep their homes clean.
The Dirt Devil was first released in 1984, and has been the company's best known product ever since. In fact, it is the best-selling hand held vacuum in the United States, with more than twenty million units sold over the last 25 years. The Dirt Devil Vacuum Cleaner is one of the easiest brands to locate - they are carried throughout North America in branch retail outlets such as K-Mart and Wal-Mart. The Dirt Devil has consistently maintained high brand awareness with t public, and even those who have never owned one have at least heard of the Dirt Devil Vacuum brand. The Dirt Devil Vacuum line has become synonymous with lightweight, hand-held vacuums, and their warranties are among the very best that the vacuum cleaner industry has to offer.
The Dirt Devil Vacuum Cleaner now comes in an ever broader variety of styles and with features that are vastly improved over the older models. With canister and bagless units now available in weights as low as 11 pounds, there is a Dirt Devil Vacuum for every person and every job. From the compact Dirt Devil Vision to the Dirt Devil Scorpion, these small cleaning tools are able to get into even the smallest nooks in a home and are perfect for both hard and carpeted surfaces. The Vision is also a perfect tool for cleaning upholstery and stairs. The Dirt Devil Breeze is well regarded for its Permafilter technology that reviewers praise for its ability to remove allergens from the air.
With many Dirt Devil Vacuum models priced around $100, they are considered by many to be near the top of the line for general cleaning purposes. Still, there are some consumers who are dissatisfied with the Dirt Devil Vacuum's deep-cleaning abilities, and others who have been dissatisfied with the extent to which it can handle heavy pet hair. However, supporters of the Dirt Devil Vacuum Cleaner line are quick to remind the critics that the Dirt Devil Vacuum should be judged only against other low to mid-priced brands, and that the Dirt Devil was designed for light to moderate cleaning uses. It is not an industrial strength vacuum cleaner, as is evident from its low price.
In general, though, the Dirt Devil Vacuum Cleaner line receives high marks for its performance. They are considered by many to be among the most useful of home vacuum cleaners, especially for light cleaning and spot jobs - primarily due to their compact and lightweight construction. The size and weight of the Dirt Devil makes them the perfect small vacuum cleaner for people who are pressed for time or find it difficult to maneuver the larger units on the market today.
